Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 28, 2026

The Poultry Tip Site respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit the site or contact us, why we collect it, who it may be shared with, and the choices you have. It is written with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) in mind.

Who we are

The Poultry Tip Site is an educational website about broiler farming, created and maintained by Aniekeme Ema. For the purposes of this policy, we are the party responsible for deciding how your personal information is used. You can reach us at aniekemeema4@gmail.com or through our Contact page.

Information we collect

Information you give us

If you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, and whatever you write in your message. Please do not include sensitive information (such as bank details or national ID numbers) in your message. We never need it.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the site, our web host and the services described below may automatically record technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, approximate location, pages visited, and the date and time of your visit. This is used to keep the site running, secure it, and understand which guides are most useful. We use Google Analytics to measure site usage, as described under Third-party services. We do not use this information to identify you personally.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. Our own pages do not require you to create an account or log in. Cookies on this site come mainly from third-party services, such as Google Analytics and our advertising partners, described in the sections below.

How we use your information

  • To read and reply to your questions and messages.
  • To keep the website working, secure and free from abuse.
  • To understand how the site is used, so we can improve our guides.
  • To display advertising that helps fund the site (see below).
  • To meet legal obligations where they apply.

Our legal bases are your consent (for example, when you choose to send us a message or accept cookies where we ask for them), our legitimate interests in running and securing a free educational website, and legal obligation where applicable. We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies and advertising

We use, or may use, third-party advertising partners, including Google AdSense, to show ads on this site. These partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites.

  • Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including advertising cookies) to serve ads on our site based on your visits to this and other sites.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
  • You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
  • Where required by law, we ask for your consent before using non-essential advertising cookies.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking cookies will not stop you from reading our guides, though ads may become less relevant. We do not control third-party cookies, and those partners' own privacy policies govern how they use your data.

Third-party services

Some parts of the site are provided by other companies, who may receive technical information such as your IP address when your browser loads their content or when you use a feature they provide:

  • Formspree receives and delivers the messages you send through our contact form, including your name, email address and message. Formspree is based in the United States. See the Formspree Privacy Policy.
  • Google Analytics helps us understand how visitors use the site (for example, which guides are read and for how long). It uses cookies and collects information such as pages visited, approximate location, browser and device type. Learn more at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Google AdSense is used, or may be used, to show advertising on the site (see "Cookies and advertising" above).
  • Font Awesome supplies the icons used on our pages.
  • GitHub Pages hosts the site and keeps standard server logs, such as visitors' IP addresses. See the GitHub Privacy Statement.

Some of these providers are based outside Nigeria, so your information may be processed in other countries. We only use providers that we believe apply reasonable safeguards.

Our guides may link to other websites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please read their policies before giving them any information.

Sharing, retention and security

We share personal information only with the service providers above, where the law requires it, or to protect the site and its users. We keep messages sent through the contact form only as long as needed to answer you and keep a reasonable record of the conversation, and then delete them. Server, analytics and advertising data is kept for the periods set by our host and those partners.

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no website or internet transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Under the NDPA you have the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy;
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information, where we no longer need it;
  • object to or ask us to restrict certain uses of your information;
  • withdraw your consent at any time (this does not affect past processing).

To use any of these rights, email us at aniekemeema4@gmail.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

Children

This site is aimed at farmers, students and adults interested in poultry. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy and contact

We may update this policy when our practices change, for example when we add new services. The date at the top shows when it was last revised, and we encourage you to check back from time to time. Continued use of the site after an update means you have read the revised policy, but where the law requires your consent for something new, we will ask for it separately.
